They have been used throughout musical history and in all types of music the world over. Our aim is not to create yet another library of samples disconnected from the physical gesture that produces them (sound sample alone), but rather to imagine a unified way of showing, analyzing and commenting on the extended playing techniques as executed on the instruments of the soloists of the Ensemble
This database is a tool for transmitting the knowledge and expertise of the musicians of the Ensemble intercontemporain in the contemporary repertoire and is intended for performers and composers. The modes techniques presented and the works illustrating them are the result of choices made by the Ensemble's soloists in order to clarify the different possibilities of extended techniques for each instrument, as well as to unify their notation and to provide information on fingerings and harmonics, while at the same time creating a link with the repertoire for each technique playing mode.
This database intended to be exhaustive and will be added to as and when required.
